Yamaha R1 is a sports motorcycle made by Yamaha From 1998 to 2024 (recently), the motorcycle underwent significant advancements, starting with a 998 cc, liquid-cooled, 20-valve engine in 1998-1999, transitioning to a 16-valve engine with fuel injection by 2002-2003, and later adopting a cross-plane crankshaft. Performance improved markedly, with horsepower increasing from 150 hp to nearly 200 hp, torque from 72.7 lb-ft to over 78 lb-ft, and top speeds climbing from 270 km/h to 293 km/h. The bike’s weight varied, with dry weights ranging from 190 kg to 177 kg, and wet weights between 198 kg and 206 kg. Enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions reflected ongoing engineering refinements, making it a continually evolving and powerful machine over the decades.
