History
CFMOTO, headquartered in Hangzhou, China, has been producing motorcycles, ATVs, and other powersports vehicles since its establishment in 1989. The company entered the adventure motorcycle segment with models like the Ibex 800, but the 450MT represents its entry into the more accessible mid-size category. The 450MT draws from CFMOTO’s existing 450cc platform, shared with models like the 450SS sportbike, emphasizing affordability and multi-terrain capability. It was developed to bridge the gap between lightweight dirt bikes and heavier touring machines, offering a balance for highway travel and off-road handling.
The motorcycle was first unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, on November 7, 2023. Initial launches occurred in Europe and Asia in 2024, with the North American version, rebranded as the Ibex 450, becoming available in the USA starting in 2025. The 2026 model year features minor updates, such as new color options like Nebula Black and Zephyr Blue, but retains the same mechanical specifications as prior years.
Launch Date
The global announcement took place at EICMA on November 7, 2023. In the Chinese market, the 2026 model officially launched on January 12, 2026. For the USA and Canada, 2026 models began arriving at dealers in early 2026, with shipments starting in January. In the USA, it is distributed through CFMOTO USA dealers, while in Canada, it is available via CFMOTO Canada outlets.
Price
In the USA, the 2026 CFMOTO Ibex 450 has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $6,499, excluding freight, setup, and dealer fees. Prices may vary by dealer and location, but it positions the bike as an affordable option in the adventure segment.
In Canada, the starting price is approximately $7,999 CAD for the base vehicle, with a total MSRP including freight and preparation fees around $8,624 CAD. Some dealers offer it for $8,099 CAD, depending on promotions and options.
Features
The 450MT/Ibex 450 is equipped with features tailored for adventure riding, including a high-tensile steel frame for durability and a long swingarm for stability on uneven surfaces. Its KYB suspension offers 200mm of travel front and rear, adjustable for preload, compression, and rebound, allowing customization for different terrains. Braking is handled by J.Juan calipers with Bosch dual-channel ABS, which can be switched off for off-road use.
Electronics include a 5-inch curved TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity via the CFMOTO RideSync app, enabling navigation, ride tracking, and diagnostics. Riders can select between Standard and Off-road modes, with the ability to disable rear traction control for loose surfaces. Additional conveniences include full LED lighting, a USB/Type-C charging port, and an adjustable windshield. The bike’s 17.5L fuel tank provides a practical range for long trips, and its adjustable seat height (800-820mm) accommodates various rider sizes.
