The 2010–2012 Harley-Davidson CVO Twin Cam 110 (FLHXSE Street Glide) is a limited-production, factory-custom “bagger” motorcycle produced by Harley-Davidson’s Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) division. This model elevated the popular Street Glide platform to a new level of performance, style, and exclusivity, combining the largest-displacement engine available from the factory at the time with a host of premium components, unique paint schemes, and advanced audio systems. It was designed for riders seeking a top-tier touring machine with a custom look straight from the showroom floor.
The introduction of the FLHXSE CVO Street Glide in 2010 marked a significant step up from the standard model. The primary difference was the powertrain. While the standard Street Glide was equipped with the capable Twin Cam 96 engine (1584cc), the CVO version received the Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 (1803cc). This engine provided a substantial increase in torque and horsepower, delivering a more responsive and powerful riding experience. Beyond the engine, the CVO model distinguished itself with exclusive, multi-layered paint jobs with hand-applied graphics, premium custom wheels, and a range of chromed or blacked-out components that were aftermarket options on the standard bike. These additions created a machine that was both visually and mechanically distinct from its mass-produced counterpart.
Design and Features
The CVO Street Glide was built on Harley-Davidson’s proven touring chassis, which had been redesigned in 2009 for improved handling and stability. The model maintained the iconic “batwing” fairing and low-slung profile of the standard Street Glide but enhanced every aspect.
Key features across the 2010-2012 production run included:
Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110 Engine: A black powder-coated powertrain with chrome covers, featuring a high-flow “Ventilator” or “Heavy Breather” performance air intake.
Custom Wheels: Each model year featured unique, larger-diameter front wheels, such as the 18-inch “Agitator” or “Road Winder” designs, which contributed to its custom stance.
Exclusive Bodywork: Stretched saddlebags provided a slammed, streamlined look while increasing luggage capacity. A custom low-profile seat, often with matching passenger pillion, and a color-matched rear fascia with LED lights completed the aesthetic.
Premium Audio System: The CVO models were equipped with a high-output Harman/Kardon audio system, which was significantly more powerful than the standard unit and included an integrated iPod interface.
Model Year Evolution of the 2010–2012 Harley-Davidson CVO Twin Cam 110 (FLHXSE Street Glide)
While sharing the same core platform, each model year introduced new features, paint schemes, and refinements.
2010 (FLHXSE)
The inaugural model set the template for the series. It was offered in three color combinations: Spiced Rum with Gold Leaf Graphics, Candy Concord with Pale Gold Leaf Graphics, and Tequila Sunrise with Pale Gold Leaf Graphics. It featured the 7-spoke “Agitator” contrast chrome wheels and a 40-watt per channel audio system.
2011 (FLHXSE2)
The 2011 model saw the introduction of new, intricate paint options and upgraded components. Key changes included the switch to a high-flow “Heavy Breather” air intake and the introduction of the new 7-spoke, mirror chrome “Road Winder” wheels. The seat was a low-profile, two-piece design with custom leather inserts. Color options included Black Diamond with Crimson Tag Graphics, Autumn Haze & Antique Gunstock, and Kryptonite & Black Diamond.
2012 (FLHXSE3)
For its final year in this iteration, the 2012 CVO Street Glide received its most significant audio upgrade. The new BOOM! Audio High Performance system included an amplifier that boosted power to 100 watts per channel and, for the first time, integrated speakers into the saddlebag lids for a true surround-sound experience. It also featured a new diamond-cut “Agitator” wheel design and three new exclusive color schemes: Hot Citrus & Antique Gunstock, Ruby Red & Typhoon Maroon, and Maple Metallic & Vivid Black.
